yep

got my first job offer today (got a call from the district manager of Rite Aid)- and there's actually an early sign-on bonus i'll get if i sign up before January- over and above the normal bonuses- we talked about Nashville some- (((UNFORTUNATELY Nashville is somewhat of a popular place for pharmacists and Rite Aid only has about 5 or 6 spots open... )))the district manager knows me pretty well and told me since he knew i wanted to move back there he'd go ahead and save me a position there- and that i could call him any time and come by and sign some papers... (don't worry- i'm not gonna commit anywhere just yet...)... but that was my interview- the "hey if you come sign this paper and we'll fix you up with a job in nashville??"... that was it- i basically only had to say "sure" at that point to be hired. Isn't that nuts? I just kinda chuckled to myself, because it really is a little funny...

the big career fair/interviews are NEXT FRIDAY- we have a big fancy dinner thing the night before and interviews all day the next day (yay for no 6am-3:30pm rotation!)... i'm looking forward to it- they sent around a sheet for us to say which companies we wanted to sit down for a 30 minute interview- apparently every one just tries to tell you why you should come work for THEM- kinda butter you up a little- every company except Target. They have a reputation in the pharmacy circle for being really picky about who they'll hire- almost a "why should WE hire YOU?"- i've even heard of some of their interviews being downright uncomfortable... so i signed up to go in for one with them- just to see what they say. I really like target a lot... their pharmacies NEVER seem to be going at more than a crawl (i basically check every pharmacy out when i'm shopping... ), they have nice stuff, clean stores... reasonable pharmacy hours... seems like a good place to go- i figure if they like me and offer as much or more than rite aid, i might be swayed to the bull's-eye... and the GOOD news is- community pharmacy interest is way way down in my class- they've been pumping the "do clinical or you're only a second class pharmacist" thing at us for 4 years- i do know a couple of my married friends who are going straight out- another guy has good connections with walmart management and is getting some sort of hook up there... but apparantly this is one of the lowest years on record in terms of the number of people going to the career fair... they've actually sent out 3 emails extending the sign up deadline to try to get more people- and emails encouraging us to show up and interview...and you know what that means, right?.... you got it... my favorite word.... Leverage!

Knoxville is the home of the University of Tennessee...and it is close to the mountains with hiking trails that go from here to Maine .Knoxville is surrounded by beautiful lakes..lots of boating and fishing and water recreation. The cost of living is low in Knoxville. The price of houses is one of the lowest in the natiion.
It's close to Oak Ridge ...home of the famous BIG ED'S PIZZA.
Laurel Church of Christ has a new young preacher who has brought in lots of young people.
Knoxville has 81 scenic parks...40 miles of greenways...and 25 community/recreation centers.
It has a small town feel with big city advantages.
and your grandparents live here.

And your brother, cousins and beautiful Auntie Rose lives here. More Burka's per square mile in Knoxville, then in Middle Tennessee.

Ditto the last part of what Josh said-congrats! Target seems pretty nice, and I think you're smart to see what their interviews are all about. How cool would it be to have several offers to choose from! See you in Ktown(maybe). :)
