So I’ve got a few minutes here so I went over to the student lounge in the activity center- for some reason I find it odd that at a medical school there would be a large group of girls to my right blaring BET rap videos on the large public plasma-screen TV over there…usually its on CNN or ESPN… I guess they got in-? I had a good 4th and final 30-minute presentation today I think- he actually had to stop me about 80% of the way through cause I was at the time limit- oops! I stayed up pretty late working on it (3am or so)- i think it went pretty well- I guess maybe I put together too much info for my time slot- but I get to give this same presentation again tomorrow for another PhD guy so I’ll do better- its about as akward/intimidating as you might imagine it would be giving a 30 minute presentation directly to someone with 100 publications on the very subject you’re talking about- not to an audience of 20 people AND him- JUST him… hard to explain I guess- but I think I did good- I’m just second guessing myself right now- I know I could have done it better and I know I will tomorrow- I just need to get a little bit more sleep so my words come to me easier --we either present from a underlined journal with notes or a separate paper with bullet points- so its not like you can really give the exact same presentation twice, but I don’t mind because I think bullet points are the best way to present- its much less robotic and stiff than someone who walks up there with word for word on note cards- but after being at the ASP convention in ATL 2 weekends ago, I can see that there are definitely times for using exact speeches- you get on camera or in front of thousands and you can’t afford to pause-
