blue 07
well... here's the last DCI video(s)- i just would be dropping the ball if i left this one out-
bluecoats 2007- i think 2006 may have had a higher score- but this show by all accounts was much more difficult- especially on the music-
2nd in percussion- beating the cavaliers, cadets, phantom, SCV- everybody who wasn't the blue devils... it was really tight... if you'll remember Mike Mcintosh the prolific percussion arranger/instructor of cavaliers late 90s early 2000s fame- switched over to the blue-side in 2004 and in the last 3 years has built up an incredible battery/pit (pit didn't play at this one)- do yourself a solid and watch the snare line there in the center- they're really fantastic
1st in brass on quarterfinals with a score of 9.9/9.9... just think about that for a minute... the first night of the 3-night finals weekend they came in 1st place for brass- those who have been to the MTSU can appreciate how huge that is... and it wasn't fluke- they won 1st brass in several of the major regionals leading up to finals... they actually fell down to 4th (different judge) to phantom on finals night by 0.1.... needless to say- the brass book is incredible- and very challenging- agreed by many to be the most difficult tuba book ever attepmpted (i realize how funny that sounds but when you get to the 4 bars of 16th notes soli at the 3:40 mark- i think you'll know what i'm talking about)- it was schweet.. actually here's the warmup before they started...
a weak 7th place showing in visual GE and colorgaurd didn't help in the final rankings... but it was still an incredible year-
