the last thing on your mind
just hanging out- graduation is a week from this friday- that's pretty crazy. This month has been going pretty slow so far, but it's picking up. I just got a haircut today...
I've had the chance to get more involved at church- and that's been a good feeling- i got to put together the Senior slide show and that was fun. I went to a Sounds game tonight with Phil and johnny crisp. Got to hang out with Josh and Jesse a few times and that was good- they've been super busy doing peace corps-related activities, hanging out with other friends/family and other stuff- They're in a pretty tough situation with all they need to get done in a short period of time before they leave- I don't envy them in that sense and I'm sure that if our positions were reversed I'd be the one saying "sorry- not tonight"- so there's no hard feelings. I guess the good thing about this is I've been able to get an early start preparing myself for what it'll be like when they're no longer living in this country coming up here in a few short weeks. I've been hanging out with Phil and other church people a lot as of late- you just gotta love Phil. He was there with me tonight at the game when I needed a good friend to talk to and that helped... when he announced me Sunday night after church service when they were honoring the graduates he said "and next we have Scott Burka... he's the man...." and that made me smile. It was funny having everyone walk up and call me Dr. ____ afterward- I always find myself thinking "oh stop it- I don't have a degree with the words 'Doctor of' in it" and then i think "oh wait- I guess I do (or more correctly WILL in about 10 days)!".... it's an odd feeling to say the least- but odd in a good way-
got a house (move-in beginning of July). been working out a lot- almost back to pushing as much weight as i was last summer- and I am curling more (80 pounds!)- so that's good. I'm also really good at this core and lower back machine... i can set it on 13 and I'll do about 5 sets of 20 on it- i guess i probably don't look like i have a very strong core/back- but it's in there! I'm a pretty timid person- but I do like being strong because you never know when that might come in handy :)
I finally broke down and got some of this "N.O. Xplode" work out supplement stuff that Jordan uses... he actually uses 3 or 4 things (supplements) and was trying to sell me on them a few months ago- and i said "well... If i just was gonna get ONE- which one should I get?" and he said this one... only 25 calories- it's a little bit of an 'upper'- makes you want do do more, longer, and i sweat like crazy... though I notice that I feel kinda... 'rushed' or 'in a hurry' the rest of the afternoon after I work out... I'll let you know how it works. It's just been great to get back into doing cardio again- i really let that slip this last semester- and it's great that my leg is better and I can (carefully) use it again! Did some running with Dad yesterday-
I'm really excited about starting my Job in 2 weeks- I think they're gonna like me there-
and the title of this blog is the name of a new song I like- i heard it on an old navy commercial...
