MUH
or as it's more commonly called "Methodist University Hospital"... where I spent more time at (in my 4th month here) than I have at any other institution. It's been great.
so we (the "ICU Team") were in... well.... the ICU and one of the medical residents, Ben (called him Dr. Green for awhile but he preferred Ben) broke out his camera-phone and took a couple pictures just for fun... and took that as my chance- i whipped my phone out and got this one...
not much you can tell from this picture... another one of the residents and the attending are writing some stuff in the chart in the middle there (you can see that yellow sliver of paper which is the top part they've folded up... the guy with red hair is the other P4 on this rotation, I was standing immediately to his left before i broke out the phone... Dr. Green's on the right, another resident there in the middle... this is one of the 4 ICUs in the hospital that we 'round' at... patient rooms on the right with the sliding glass doors... nothing much else to see...
and later that day, i was sitting in the pharmacy area- like where we have offices (for the clinical pharmacists and residents), conference rooms, computers, books, meeting places, etc. i guess it's actually called the "drug information center"... we never really know what to call it.. it's not "the pharmacy" because that's somewhere completely different and that's where they just fill prescription orders... it's the place where we sit around and talk about problems, present our patients to our preceptors, discuss topics, access the latest journals for information... I had Dr. Self's rotation back in August of last year- I bet you could even go back to August of last year in my blog and find something about it. Annnywho-- when I talk about "topic discussion" or "presenting patients" or having the PharmD ask us questions, here's what I'm talking about-
Dr. Self on the left, the two P4s on the top and right side of the table, and the 2nd-year resident on the close side... when I was talk about my month with Dr. Self, you could superimpose me in that picture, like in place of that other guy, and that's what every day was like... and that's how my last 3 months have been, too- including this one. Just substitute a different specialist... my preceptor this month can actually be seen in the top, middle of the picture standing in the doorway... he's really smart... but i guess I told you that already...
