whats this?

Yellow… Scott here….stuff is going really well. I have had this feeling like things have changed around here. I know that UT hasn’t changed, so it must be me. I feel very different, and I think it’s a good kind of different. I am thinking it might be a combination of Mandy, my new running enthusiasm, and several drum corps changes that are finally coming to the surface. Several people in the bluecoats told me it took them 6-8 months after their first year to realize how they had changed, and that in realizing they made several other changes (all of which happened to be good changes… except possibly their skin getting darker every season and them saying that they felt like they were gonna get skin cancer). I don’t really know… it could be something else entirely that is making me feel different, but the thing I know for sure is that I really feel like a different person… I can see the end. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it’s so beautiful! I think it’s the first time I have seen it. I’ve been in my grey fog of college for 3 ½ years now and I finally see the lighthouse guiding me to my final destination… I was in one of my upper level distribution classes today and the teacher posed the question: “how many people in here are graduating seniors” and 4 or 5 of us raised our hands. I had a big grin on my face.
I guess it could also be increased levels of serotonin that result from extended aerobic exercise (the basic rule of serotonin is that if you have low levels, you are much more likely to be depressed. The converse of that is also true: more serotonin means you are more likely to be happy or “high on life” if you prefer.) Speaking of running… there is also the matter of longer life. Check out some statistics on that… one I just found involved testing about 6,000 men at age 59 to determine how inclined they were to jogging on a regular basis. 6 years later, those who did not run/jog had a rate of death that was 4 times higher than those who did regularly run/jog. Good investment? I think so.
