Hey everybody! Things are going great here in Memphis. I am meeting lots of new people and getting ready to start classes here on Monday. Today we just sat in the same room from 9am to 3:30pm (with a lunch break) and heard people talk about how to be a professional, what to wear, how to act, where to study, how to study, what fraternity to be in, and why we are the best Pharmacy school in the country and how we expect to stay that way. It was great to meet so many new people who were all in the same situation that I am in… it is very conducive to making new friends. I made about 3 or 4 good friends tonight. I am also definitely digging the free food and stuff. It is really cool to get to be a part of this university! Everyone is walking around with their long white lab coats with their respective college’s patch on the arm and their ID badges ands stuff…(i get my jacket and ID badge at the "White coat ceremony" next friday- everyone is invited) I went to McDonalds today and there was just a clear and distinct separation between all of the medical school people and the non-medical school people… and it was really fun to get to be on the medical side. I guess that’s bad, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy being noticed after 4 long years of being 1 of 26,000 faceless students at UTK… you know what I mean? It feels good. Mandy decorated my room yesterday and it looks really good. She is so much better at that stuff than I am… I don’t know WHAT my room would look like if she hadn’t come and fixed it up. There were just a few little things we got at Wal-Mart that added a very professional/neat touch to the room. I am going to make sure to keep it excessively clean so that I can live up to the “my room would be clean if I had a room all to myself!” assertion that I have made before. We’ll see how it goes. OK I am getting tired and we have a very full day of more orientation-type activities that starts bright and early at 8am… I guess I’ll just wait for my roommate to go to bed… oh wait… there is nobody in here but me…. Sweet! Later World… you’ve got 4 years to get ready for me… better enjoy it while it lasts!- Scott
