Walking in Memphis....

Hey guys… things are still going great. I had an awesome game of Frisbee with the med-students… they were all pretty nice. Most of them belong to something analogous to the BSU or Volunteers at UT, so they are pretty clean and easy to get along with. They definitely picked up right away that I knew how to play and I really was very involved in the game and made tons of scoring throws and catches… that was really fun. I look forward to getting to know them all better as this year progresses. Things are actually going pretty slow right now, not anything to study from today, but there probably will be after tomorrows classes. There was a joint rush event tonight at a bar on Beal Street… that was OK… its kind of boring to go to a bar where everyone is drinking save about 5 or 6 people (one of which was me). Not really akward, but boring. I did talk to several people and it wasn’t really weird, or anything… it was just really crowded and loud and I was pretty tired so that wasn’t my ideal environment. I have really made a TON of new friends here, its great. The most interesting part about the whole process is just how FAST I would say that some people have risen to be moderately close friends. It just helps that we are all in the same boat, taking all the same classes and stuff… we all have the same goals too, and I think that’s a big part of why its so easy. I asked a few guys to throw Frisbee today and before I knew it there were 5 of us standing around in the grass field behind our apartments throwing… it was really pretty relaxing and fun. The pharmacy people are very very nice, which is more than I can really say for the Dentists and Medical students because they tend to be more prudish… but they are still relatively polite… they just seem dismissive at times. One girl said when I suggested we play Frisbee more than once a week:

“once classes start you wont have that much time for this kind of stuff…. Well… you pharmacy people might but WE sure don’t…”

And I was thinking… yeah I see what you are trying say… jerk….

It is DEFINITLY nice to be surrounded by all of these motivated and hard working people. It really reminds me of the difference between High school band (MJHS), college band (UTK), and DCI (Pharmacy school)… does that analogy make sense? it feels like we are really at the highest level and everyone that is here is very talented and excited to be where they are… its just really fun… Right now, however, I am really tired so I’m gonna do something else. Have a good one-
