mmmm... suppositories...
Well… its groundhog day… again… and… wait- did I use that one already? I think I did. Oh well. You should all know that in 4 years the world is going to be a more dangerous place for pharmacy because our air-conditioning just went out in the lecture hall and the teacher cancelled our first class- Parenterals. I would say, however, that since 90% of the drugs we take go through the GI tract in some way (tablets, sublinguals, or suppositories) and parenterals is the class about things that don’t go through the GI tract… we might still be in good shape. Oh well…
I met Todd last night on my way back from Nashville (did I mention I took a spur of the moment trip to Nashville?) and we had ice-cream and he took pictures of me in my new white coat and ID badge… so that was cool. He might need to publish one or more of those to his blog. Its interesting to be in this computer lab because- like Frisbee- everyone here is a Doctor, Dentist, or Pharmacist to be… it makes for an interesting environment. Its actually how I expected it might be. Some people might think… well these people are all in medschool but there still must be some dumb or annoying people saying dumb or annoying stuff… but there arnt! Its like a moron-free environment, and I really like it. It’s kinda the same way about Frisbee too. There is a drive in Movie Theater here that I just love. I went once two weeks ago and it was awesome. You get to see 2 new movies for 6 bucks… and what I love is how you can just load your car up with random movie food and bring it in and nobody can stop you! I am so bringing a massive bag of popcorn and a 2 liter next time I go… which might be Thursday night because we don’t have class on Friday until 1pm… (Man do I love Fridays).
So in summary- all is well here in “Mumphis” and I am enjoying my pharmacy life. This wont be NEARLY as painful as I had sometimes thought in the back of my mind. I had always thought that pharmacy school would be 4 years of my life that I would just want to totally erase from my memory because of it being so hard and impersonal, but it hasn’t been either yet… so that’s good. I see everyone walking around with their jackets and patches (you get those your 3rd year) and I can’t wait to get MY patch! They are really cool… and most people from Memphis wear their white coats with the patches even when they start practicing… so I think I will do that… I am really tired right now, actually… so I am glad we had our first class off. Oh and I just remembered that tonight is Casino night! I am so going to dominate if I can get in a Texas-Hold em’ game… and then I can win prizes… prizes will actually be given in a very indirect way… you get chips to gamble, and at the end of the night you can use those chips to purchase tickets which will then be put in a pool and drawn from for prizes… so winning lots of money just increases your odds of winning a prize… crazy, huh? I am still going to dominate- I don’t really have any other option… cough cough ($350 from NCAA brackets) cough…. Its in my destiny.
Speaking of that- I’ve gotta go see if they opened the lecture hall for our next class! Peace-
