taking it to the streets

(the picture above was taken by Todd "not Allen" Burka on his own, personal camera... The emotional, physical, legal, and technical rights of this picture belong to none other than the same Todd Burka)

Yeah yeah, so I haven't written in awhile- I’ll try to catch you up:

So the MD said that I DON’T have a fracture in my femur so I can put all my weight on there (did I cover that already?) so that’s awesome- I went for a walk tonight for the first time in awhile- and I could just tell that my body was thanking me for getting out of the house/pharmacy... the MD, or should I say MDs (about 4 of them!) have gathered and talked and had meetings on my behalf and have decided that what I have is either a tumor on my bone (not as scary as it sounds really), or a synovial cyst- they think the cyst is the more likely of the two- so in 2 weeks I’m gonna go in and they are going to 1) biopsy the place on my hip to see if it’s a tumor and 2) give a local steroid injection that will either reverse the source of the inflammation/pain totally, or at least for a long time- so I think that’s great- makes me happy really. This has a MUCH better prognosis than before… buuut I’m tired of talking about my leg- if there are specific leg questions I can entertain them

Had a great trip to Indy this past weekend with the family- we got there on Friday around 3pm- we checked into our hotel and then walked around the city for awhile- we were surprised to find out that the city decided to go on a special time zone and they were effectively on Eastern time… it took us a little while to figure that out- “closed? But its only 4:30 and it says open until 5?!”… but it’s a nice city, a clean city. Reminded me of Nashville somewhat, but it had a very different feel. People like to honk their horns a lot in that city, still don’t know why… its spread out a little more, and its got lots of nice little parks and statues, and monuments, and shrines, and what-not… it’s a nice place to walk around. I guess I could add that to the list of places where I wouldn't really TRY to go to, but if someone said “I’ll pay you twice as much to take a job in ______” I might consider saying yes because its pleasant there…. We did lots of sight-seeing and even some goodwill-ing on Saturday and then went to the DCI show which lasted from 6pm-11:30pm- it really took a lot out of me- now don’t get me wrong, I loved all of it, but its like a really long intense and emotional movie- the last 20 minutes of it, your adrenal glands are just worn out and your eyes just glaze over a bit, and when its time to walk out, it feels like you’ve just run a race even though you were sitting there the whole time, you know what I mean? Its like that for me… I guess it just takes a lot of energy for me to try to take in so many good shows- I think it was a wonderful time for all involved. The trip home, I was actually too tired to drive and we all agreed (besides todd that is) that we should just get a hotel room and cover the last 4 hours the next morning… and I’m glad we did. I’ve been sleeping better lately- I don’t know whats up with that… last night I went to bed at 1am and was awakened at 8:30 am to answer a phone call which was my Doctor setting up the time for my biopsy- I felt relatively rested (about 7 hours of sleep when you subtract my leg-hurting time)- but I said “well Scott.. you’ve got 1 day off this week, you better make it count… so I decided… to go back to bed! And I tacked on another 4 hours and slept till 12:30… and you might think I was done sleeping for the day… but after I got up and ate some lunch and did a few boring things around the house, I decided that there was nothing to do and that I might as well just lay down one more time- and I think I slept for about another 45 minutes! And you know what… its 11:45 right now and I think I’m just going to go to bed again! And you know, I don’t even feel guilty about it… I put in my 40 hours on my feet (ouch, but the way) every week (I tell them I can even work more but they tell me they aren’t allowed to pay anyone overtime)… I don’t have a girlfriend, I don’t have a pet, my house is clean, my clothes are washed, my hair is cut, my car has gas, my grass is mowed, there are no papers due, no tests to study for, my friends are out of town… and you know… I just decided that I was going to sleep today- and it worked out well for me! Sleep is one thing that I’m just naturally good at- never had much trouble until this leg thing- and even with that I can be good at sleeping 3.5 hours at a time in chunks… way to go me…

So I have a roommate now- his name is Bret, he’s either 27, 28, or 29, I’m not sure… he was in the marines where he actually fought in live combat and killed a few combatants with a small firearm—he is, as you might expect, a very… intense… person…. He LOVES this fraternity probably as much or more than I love DCI (yeah, let that sink in for a minute)…

Also- look for some more pictures on here soon- my new camera (exact same one as todd plus a 1gig memory card) comes in tomorrow via UPS… I kind of coveted his camera and just had to get one like it- with the 1gig, I’ll be able to take something like 40 minutes of high quality video, and I’ve got several ideas in store for that… I started my own Youtube account so when I get some videos, I’ll be able to do like todd and link them from here… I could even do a few video blogs! That could be fun… I’ve got some ideas for some fun videos around Memphis I’d like to share…

Dad- I think I’ve decided that you can just have my old camera and I’ll just steal it back from you if my new one breaks or something… how does that sound? (happy late fathers day!)

you know, i dont remember calling anyone a bidet. i said my father was making use of a fountain as one would use a bidet... but.. i think this whole thing is out of context.

and i think YOU'RE out of context. (by "YOU'RE" i mean everyone, of course.)
